Chasing The Elusive Dream

elusive dream

Dreams keep us alive, they keep pushing us forward when there is nothing else. The light at the end of the tunnel and such fancy things that motivational speakers keep talking about – it is actually our dreams they are talking about, aren’t they?  The day we have no more dreams, there is no point in keeping on living. We might as well go to sleep and never wake up.

We all have that one elusive dream that always seems to be far away from our grasp.

Even though you have not let the dream go, but you know deep down that it is the one thing you want to pursue.

Your days move on, progressing one day after the other. You are at a point in life when you know what you want and are not willing to settle for anything lesser than what you need and are worthy of.

Then comes a day when you finally find what you are seeking. Rather, it finds you.

The catch?

It can never be yours forever.

It cannot be yours, ever.

What do you do?

Will you be able to walk by it every day knowing that that is the answer to all your questions, the one thing you have always been wanting in your life? Will you chase it even when it is clear that in the end, you may end up losing whatever you already have?

To wear your heart on your sleeve is one thing, but what does it mean to jump in nose first when you know there is no water in the pool and that you are going to hit rock bottom in the first instance itself?

For me, it does sound like a recipe for disaster.

How do we deal with it? I have no clue. For now, I have decided to take it one day at a time. Work for what I want, if I get it well and good. If not, maybe I am made for better and bigger things in life. Let’s see how far this goes.

Do you have that one elusive dream that keeps taunting you from far? What is your plan to finally grab it and live the dream?

Writing to me is therapy, it frightens and comforts at the same time. Liberates like nothing else. A book in my own name is a dream, but a bigger dream would be to write something that haunts the reader even after the last page is turned and the book is shut. I enjoy reading and music, spending time with family whilst battling my social awkwardness.

  1. I have one elusive dream. I know that. I’m sure about that. But what… I just can’t make it. Sometimes I feel, while running after life, I left behind my dream somewhere and completely forgot about that. And now I’m not able to recollect it. And it’s a terrible feeling.
