Beyond Secrets Book Review
Young Noel and Nidhi are the protagonists of this story which takes place in an orphanage where both of them have come to volunteer.
Noel is a freelance counselor who has reached the orphanage against his dad’s wishes. Noel is tired of his parents and his twin brother Sam who seems to excel in everything he does and seems like the perfect son any parents would want. Finally, Noel’s parents relent and give in to the wishes of their son and let him go to Aashiyana.
Nidhi at the outset appears to be gruff and insensitive, yet comes off as a girl who craves for freedom and love. She has run away to the orphanage to run away from her past which torments her, and thus begins her journey from her home to Aashiyana.
A strange sense of Déjà vu permeates Noel’s mind as flashbacks torment his mind. At Aashiyana Noel and Nidhi start off as people who cannot be friends, yet both their journeys are similar to the reader. Both of them are in search of answers to questions which torment their souls.
The story is written in the first person account and the emotions of the protagonists engulf the reader and we are able to relate to them. The characters are not perfect fictional spin-offs, but they are human beings made of flesh and blood, perfectly imperfect with their own character flaws. The writing is simple and the readers are in for a smooth reading experience.
