If We Were Having Coffee

If we were having coffee
If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee,
She would call you for lunch,
He would ask you if you had fever.

If we were having coffee,
Ogling at the other girls ,
Ignoring my words trying to gaze into your soul.

If we were having coffee,
Again you would not spend a penny,
Again a call would come when the bill came.

If we were having coffee,
I’d know I was in my worst nightmare,
And wake up, even at the cost of that coffee.

If we were having coffee,
I’d know what to say, you’d be quiet,
We would part never to have coffee together again.

Today is the final day of the WriteTribe Festival of Words 2017.
We had to use the phrase If we were having coffee as our prompt for the day.

  1. Seems like it’s better to enjoy your coffee alone in peace than with that person, u deserve better than that.
I agree with vinay as he mentioned in his comment, Need to have it with a person who appreciates you and coffee, both.

  2. Hey Bhavya that wasn’t a very happy coffee meeting was it ;( . Trust it’s purely fiction for coffee almost always makes me happy… nice meeting you during this week.

  3. Loved it… succinct. To the point. And layers upon layers in the brevity of these few lines… Absolutely delightful reading…

  4. Better to not have a coffee with the person who doesn’t deserve!
Seriously a call at the bill!
    Good wife B!

  5. I would rather not have coffee with a person I know I will anyways part ways with. Those people are called ex for a reason!!!! Lovely poetry dear!!!
