Children, I Me Mine, Weirdness

For Fifteen Minutes of Fame

Plotting for fifteen minutes of fame,
Stargazing in class,
Geography a lullaby.

Rapping me awake,
Furious, the teacher fumes,
Fly in my ointment.

Continents adrift in drool,
Sinking in embarrassment,
Wishing the four corners of earth
Join together, hide me in her bosom.

This poem is based on a true story, one that occurred while I was in school.

Have you ever fall asleep in class? Did you get caught? What happened after?

Writing to me is therapy, it frightens and comforts at the same time. Liberates like nothing else. A book in my own name is a dream, but a bigger dream would be to write something that haunts the reader even after the last page is turned and the book is shut. I enjoy reading and music, spending time with family whilst battling my social awkwardness.

  1. Yeah. Have got caught once or twice when I fell asleep in class. One time, it was the last period of the day, so my teacher just told my classmates to leave. 😛 I woke up 2 hours later in the empty school. She didn’t say anything the next day, just smiled, but I turned red with embarrassment though. 😉

  2. That’s a lovely poem, Bhavya. Yes, I think it has happened to me 2-3 times I think. One time the teacher caned me, the next two times I think I was let off by a cold stare.
