Why I Want To Quit My Job

Of late, the itch has returned. To get up and leave, to tell people that enough is enough. Why? This is why:

1. I know that sitting down the whole day is killing me minute by minute. You knew that didn’t you?

2. Deep down inside, I know this is not what I want to do. But I am yet to figure out what it is that I want to do. Maybe when I don’t have a job and have lots of time on my hand, I will drift towards my calling.

3. I want to be my own boss. Is that too much to ask? No, I know. But for that to materialize, I need to stop working for someone else at some point of time.

4. A regular office job means a lot of commitments. I would rather do something that would pay me as long as my work is done, something where the number of hours I put in would not be timed, rather my efforts would be rewarded.

5. More time for friends and family.Β There are people who need me right this moment and I cannot be with them because of the commitments I’ve made. I just cannot shirk my responsibilities and walk away – neither from those people, nor from my job.

While these are not all the reasons why I want to quit my job, they are clear indicators and things that are at the top of my list.

Do you want to quit your job? Why?

Writing to me is therapy, it frightens and comforts at the same time. Liberates like nothing else. A book in my own name is a dream, but a bigger dream would be to write something that haunts the reader even after the last page is turned and the book is shut. I enjoy reading and music, spending time with family whilst battling my social awkwardness.

  1. Ishita, in the life of every woman there comes a time when she wants to quit a job. Leaving a job is very easy.As working ladies,we are so much used to it After some time we miss our job. In my 36 years of working, I came across quite a number of ladies who quit their jobs and regretted later on. I am not aware of your family circumstances. The decision SHOULD be your own and not dictated by any one else.

    • Thank you Usha ma’am for that comment. Let me clarify that I do not want to quit my job and be a stay at home wife, rather, I want to pursue those things that I never could because decisions in my life were taken for the bigger picture – a picture that would look pretty from afar, in spite of the tiny cracks when you inspected it up close. That is what I want to rectify πŸ™‚

  2. I know your excellent good life is searching for you right now – running after you – and will catch up to you very soon . . Since it is YOUR Excellent Good Life, you will recognize it instantly . . . and, in the new adventures it brings, you will find yourself busy – but very happy.

    YOU Deserve the Best!

  3. Don’t quit the job, which you already have! In this world you should have a job! But definitely you can change to a new remunerative job, where you can be your boss!
