If Only You Were Here

If Only You Were Here,
I Would Have Tried Better,
To Make You See
That Life Is Beautiful

If Only You Were Here,
You Would Have Seen,
That Life Is Not Always Pain,
That For Every Sunset There Is A Brighter Sunrise;

If Only You Were Here,
You Would Have Loved,
The Life You Were Given,
The Family You Were Given;

If Only You Were Here,
You Would Have Understood,
What A Loser He Was,
Who Told You, You Weren’t Enough;

If Only You Were Here,
Life Would Have Been Better,
If Only You Were Here,
We Could’ve Been Happier!

(This poem based on the prompt by Kajal of Rainbow Hues over at WriteTribe. I’ve chosen to write about a friend who decided that she had enough out of life and committed suicide.)

Writing to me is therapy, it frightens and comforts at the same time. Liberates like nothing else. A book in my own name is a dream, but a bigger dream would be to write something that haunts the reader even after the last page is turned and the book is shut. I enjoy reading and music, spending time with family whilst battling my social awkwardness.

  1. This had a sad note to it. If only people would appreciate others when they are here and love them, then maybe the “if onlys” wouldn’t be tinged with regrets when they are gone. This was poignant and beautifully written! ♥

  2. Nicely Communicated. I am sorry your friend left too soon. I know (from experience) you’ll carry them in your heart always . . . so, they travel with us anyway . .

    I am well, thank you – and you??? Are you well and happy?
    sending you love,

  3. Sorry to learn about your friend Bhavya. Only if she could hold on!
    Hold On! Hang On! Never Call it Quits! Are not just words, they’ve greater meaning in them and teaches us to persevere in all trials and tribulations. As you rightly said: For Every Sunset There Is A Brighter Sunrise.
